Speedy Burglars Hit Naperville Apple Store For Third Time
NAPERVILLE, Ill. (STMW) -- Five masked burglars stole about $30,000 worth of computer equipment in under a minute early Monday from a west suburban Apple store, marking the third such break-in at the store in eight months.
It happened at the Apple store at 120 W. Jefferson Ave. in Naperville at 4:31 a.m. Monday, a release from Naperville police said. Police responded about 12 minutes later and found the glass front door of the store shattered.
According to store video, five suspects entered the store wearing hooded coats, ski masks and gloves, and carrying large tote containers. Once inside, they placed computer equipment into the containers and fled.
The video showed the subjects were in the store for less than a minute and got away with about $30,000 in equipment.
On Jan. 16, a similar crime occurred at the same store, this time involving only two suspects who also shattered the front door to enter, then loaded about $30,000 worth of merchandise into containers before leaving.
The first incident at the store was reported on Aug. 31, 2010, also in the early morning hours.
Anyone with information on the crimes should call Naperville police at (630) 420-6664 or Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a $1,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
