Sox Cancel Autograph Session Due To Heat
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The White Sox have canceled the player autograph session before Sunday's game at U.S. Cellular Field against the Cleveland Indians, due to the heat.
The temperature in Chicago was forecast to be about 90 degrees by game time at 1:10 p.m., with a high of 97 by late afternoon.
As a result, the Sox canceled player autographs for Kids Day, originally scheduled to start at 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, "because of the extreme heat and sun, which could create uncomfortable conditions for fans waiting in lines for long periods of time."
All other Kids Day activities for Sunday will be held as planned, including a balloon artist, caricature artist, and face painter.
After the game, kids also will have the opportunity to run the bases.
Tickets on Kids Day are $1 for children 13 and younger, with a fully paid adult.
