Southwest Flight Makes Emergency Landing At Midway
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Southwest Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Midway International Airport on Thursday, after apparently striking a bird during takeoff.
Southwest Flight 105 took off from Midway at about 9:40 a.m., bound for Las Vegas. According to the city's Aviation Department, the plane made a safe emergency landing at Midway at 10:07 a.m.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the 737-800 jetliner landed without incident after reporting the plane had hit a bird during takeoff.
"All 164 customers and six crew members are safe. They will be accommodated on another aircraft and will arrive in Vegas approximately three hours late," Southwest spokeswoman Emily Samuels said.
The FAA was investigating the incident.
