South Suburban Police Departments Coming Together For Fundraiser To Support Injured Park Forest Officer Tim Jones
(CBS) -- Some south suburban police departments are coming together Monday for a fundraiser in support of an injured Park Forest officer.
The owner of the McDonald's on Lincoln Highway near Western Avenue in Olympia Fields is donating 30 percent of purchases made between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to the family of Officer Tim Jones.
Jones was shot in the head while answering a call of a break-in last month.
Olympia Fields Officer Dan Kickert says a couple of departments are coming together to sell items at the fast food fundraiser.
"In the south suburbs, we're all a close law enforcement family," Kickert says.

He says representatives of Chicago Heights police will be selling wristbands, Olympia Fields will sell stickers and the dispatch center serving those areas will be selling t-shirts.
All of the money will go to Jones' family, probably to cover long-term care and any other medical costs, Kickert says.
Last week, Officer Jones was moved out of the hospital into a rehab facility and is making incredible gains, according to Park Forest Police.
