South Side Shooting May Have Been Retaliation For Murder
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police say a daylight shooting in the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood Friday morning might have been in retaliation for a murder at the same corner.
The Friday morning shooting happened around 9:40 a.m. at 79th Street and Loomis Boulevard. A man ended up hospitalized in fair condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a gunshot wound to the arm, according to a Gresham District police lieutenant.
Police are investigating its likely connection with the death of a man identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Larry Gore, who was fatally shot at the same address about 5 p.m. Thursday, the lieutenant said.
Gore, 21, of the 2400 block of West Marquette Road, was dead on the scene, according to the medical examiner's office.
The lieutenant said Calumet Area police detectives are speaking to a couple of people considered "persons of interest." in Friday's shooting, which was likely done in retaliation for Gore's murder.
