South Side Food Delivery Drivers Warned After String Of Robberies
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A string of armed robberies has police warning South Side food delivery drivers to be on alert.
Police say robbers using cell phones are ordering food and then robbing the delivery drivers of their cash at gunpoint. The robberies are occurring in the Prairie and Grand Crossing districts, east of the Dan Ryan Expy. between 31st and 75th streets.

Police also issued the cell numbers that are frequently used in the crimes: (773) 712-3426, (773) 757-4971, (773) 587-7674, (773) 683-8649, (773) 765-8423, (773) 936-0533. The phones used were disposable.
Two of the robberies were in the 6700 block of South Clyde and two in the 6100 block of South Kenwood. There have been six in all, and the most recent happened on Christmas Eve.
Businesses in the area are advised to only allow orders from land lines. When drivers arrive at the delivery location, they are being urged to call the customer and make visual contact before leaving their car.
Businesses should also be suspicious of large orders and requests to make change for large bills, police said.
