South Shore Trains Suspended After Power Outage
CHICAGO (CBS)-- Train service has been suspended for South Shore trains between South Bend and East Chicago due to a power outage Sunday in Portage County, Indiana.
Train delays are due to a loss of commercial power from the Northern Indiana Public Service Company in Porter County, according to the website of Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District.
Power may not be restored until late afternoon, according to the NICTD. There may also be damage to the equipment in its substations.
South Shore westbound train no. 502 and no. 504 between South Bend and Chicago have been suspended, the NICTD website said. The westbound train 606 between Michigan City and East Chicago has also been suspended. Westbound train no. 506 between South Bend and East Chicago may also be suspended.
South Shore eastbound trains no. 503 between East Chicago and South Bend and train no. 603 between East Chicago and Michigan City have been suspended, according to the NICTD website. Eastbound trains no. 505 between East Chicago and South Bend and no. 605 between East Chicago and Michigan City may also be suspended.
