South Shore Prep School To Add Coveted Seats
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Getting into selective-enrollment public high schools in Chicago is difficult, but it may get a little easier next year.
As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Marsett reports, the Chicago Tribune says the Chicago Public Schools plans this fall to add 100 new seats at the new South Shore International College Prep, 1955 E. 75th St.
The new seats could provide options for students who do not receive near-perfect test scores, the Tribune reported.
To get into selective-enrollment schools, students must take an entrance exam and score high on state standardized tests. Their final grades are also considered, the newspaper reported.
This year, many students who have received near-perfect scores still had to settle for their fourth or fifth choices, the Tribune reported.
