South Elgin Bust Nets Nearly $500K In Marijuana
SOUTH ELGIN, Ill. (CBS) -- Police found a total of 700 pounds of marijuana in a home and car in South Elgin late last week, in what amounted to the biggest drug bust in the town's history.
As WBBM Newsradio's Lisa Fielding reports, the marijuana, worth $480,000 in total, was found after a tipster told police around 5:20 p.m. this past Friday that a large drug shipment was coming to the area of 16 D Ione Dr.

Meanwhile, made an unspecified traffic violation and was pulled over. The officer asked to search the car, which the driver allowed, and about 100 pounds of marijuana were found in the car.
The driver, Claudio Ochoa, 46, of the Ione Drive address, was arrested, and later allowed a search of his home. Another 600 pounds of marijuana were found there.
Ochoa is now charged with one count of manufacture and delivery of cannabis – a Class X felony, and one count of possession of cannabis, a Class 1 Felony. His bond was set at $250,000, and he is due back in Kane County court Aug. 17.
