Bomb Squad Called In After Live Grenade Is Found In South Austin
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Chicago Police Bomb Squad was called into the South Austin neighborhood on Tuesday after someone found a live grenade.
Police said they received a call around 9:35 a.m. about a suspicious package in a blue lunch bag in the 5000 block of West Madison Street, near Lavergne Avenue, It turned out to be a grenade.
The area was shut down for a while so the Bomb Squad could safely remove the grenade.
The scene was secured by 11:10 a.m.
