Source: Bears, Smith In Talks On 2-Year Extension

(WSCR) Sources told 670 The Score's Terry Boers that the Bears and head coach Lovie Smith are in preliminary discussions on a two-year contract extension for the head coach.
Smith is currently under contract through the 2013 season.
However, Smith's son and agent, Matthew Smith, told the Chicago Tribune's Vaughn McClure otherwise Tuesday.
"Coach's only concern is bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Chicago. Any discussion regarding his contract would take place after the season," he told the newspaper.
Heading into their bye week, the Bears are 4-1 under Smith this season.
Through 133 games, Smith has coached the Bears to a 75-58 record, including a Super Bowl appearance following the 2006 season.
Smith is in his ninth season with the Bears.
