Source: Epstein, Zambrano Meet To Discuss Future
(WSCR) Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein and embattled pitcher Carlos Zambrano met Monday at Goose Island in Wrigleyville to discuss "future situations," a source told 670 The Score.
Epstein has not ruled out bringing Zambrano back next season, despite the pitcher cleaning out his locker and threatening to retire after being ejected from a game Aug. 12. The team placed him on the disqualified list and he hasn't pitched since.
Zambrano has lost the respect of many of his teammates, but he is still owed $18 million by the Cubs in 2012, making him tough to trade or release.
