Soriano Gets 1 Hit In Minor League Iowa Game
PAPILLON, Neb. (CBS) -- Playing in the Minor Leagues as he remains on the disabled list, Alfonso Soriano got a hit in four at-bats as the Iowa Cubs were creamed.
The Cubs left fielder was placed on the DL last month due to a "strained left quadriceps." He had been hitting .271 with 12 home runs and 29 RBI in 49 games this season.
When the Triple-A Iowa Cubs took on the Omaha Storm Chasers at Werner Park in Nebraska Monday night, Soriano struck out twice in the first inning and flied with two out in the third, the Des Moines Register reported.
In the fifth, he finally succeeded with a line drive with two out, and scored on a single by Iowa's Wellington Castillo, the newspaper reported.
Soriano struck out again in the seventh inning, and then reached first base on an errant pitch by Omaha's Kyle Davies, only to leave the field after a double-play ended the inning, the Register reported.
Tyler Colvin was activated for the Cubs from Iowa when Soriano went on the DL.
