Someone You Should Know: Tailor Maurice Hood
(CBS) -- This weekend, when new members are inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, they will receive something made in Chicago just for them.
CBS 2's Harry Porterfield says the creator of these special gifts is someone you should know.
Maurice Hood, tailor, is hard at work on a sewing machine. It's one of the tools of his trade in what he calls his superfine tailor shop, where he has distinguished himself by going beyond what's normal for this business.
A decade ago, he made the costume for the Bulls mascot Benny the Bull. Currently, he is completing work on the seven jackets for the 2015 NFL Hall of Fame inductees.
When Porterfield visited, Hood was altering a jacket that will be conveyed to enshrinee Ron Wolf, former general manager of the Green Bay Packers.
The other inductees are: Jerome Bettis, Charles Haley, Tim Brown, Will Shields, Bill Polian, Mick Tinglehoff and the late Junior Seau.
Hood hopes his success will help re-energize an industry that has faltered in recent years.
"Everything's overseas," he says. "I hope it really puts a shot in the arm back to the garment industry here in Chicago."
The induction takes place in Canton, Ohio.
