Someone You Should Know: McDonald's Couple
(CBS) -- They started at the bottom and worked their way up.
Carmen and John Decarrier are someone you should know, CBS 2's Harry Porterfield reports.
They both began working at a McDonald's some 30 years ago.
Carmen, who came from the Dominican Republic, was studying communications at Columbia College. John, a Chicagoan, had become a McDonald's employee through a job fair.
"We were both general managers of different restaurants, so we would call each other up and share stories with each other," John Decarrier says. "We learned that we had a lot in common."
So, having met in the shadow of the golden arches, they got married. They now own nine McDonald's franchises in Chicago.
