Someone You Should Know: Barber Frank Russo
(CBS) -- He prides himself in his work and he's been doing it for 50 years.
CBS 2's Harry Porterfield says Frank Russo is someone you should know.
He's a master of the comb and scissors, and he'll accept nothing but perfection in what he does. That's the way it has always been with Russo from the time he opened his barbershop in suburban Chicago Ridge in 1964 and even before that when he was just a school kid growing up in Italy.
"By the time I was 13 I was cutting hair," he says.
The moments spent in his barber shop can be more like a reunion.
"I see three generations, four generations, sometimes. They still come here," Russo says.
John Russo is a nephew and a regular customer.
"It's like going back in a time warp here," he says.
This year, Frank Russo celebrates two important milestones in his life: his 50th wedding anniversary and the half-century of his barber shop.
A soccer fan, he coached the Azzurri soccer team for 24 years. Tony Dibiaso was once a member of the team and is a customer of 37 years standing.
"Frank cares about his customers. You come here, it's like you're family," he says.
