Smoltz: White Sox Are 'Still In The Mix'
CHICAGO (WSCR) The White Sox were expected to compete for the American League Central title, but after slowly recovering from terrible start to the season, they find themselves two games under .500.
"The Chicago White Sox are a much better team than what they've shown," former Major League pitcher and current MLB Network analyst John Smoltz said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "They're still in the mix. I think they're, what, four and a half games out of first, under .500. You're not going to see that too often, at this time of the year, through 75-plus games."

The White Sox's struggles have been as equally surprising as the Cleveland Indians' success. The Indians are seven games over .500 and have a one-game lead over the Detroit Tigers.
"I'd be more nervous about [the White Sox], if I were Cleveland, than anybody else," Smoltz said. "Because, you feel like 'shoot, we had a chance to really bury them.'"
The White Sox are 27-21 since May 1, and the Indians are 22-25 over that same stretch.
