Smoke Sends Ambulances To Hyde Park Retirement Home
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Ambulances were dispatched when smoke was discovered at the Montgomery Place retirement home in Hyde Park Thursday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m., smoke was reported in a ComEd electrical vault in the retirement center, at 5550 S. Shore Dr., according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Will Knight.
As of 12:40 p.m., no injuries had been reported, Knight said.
An EMS Plan I, which automatically sends five ambulances to the scene, and a still-and-box alarm remain in effect, he said.
A spokesman who answered the phone at Montgomery Place retirement home at the South Shore address said an alarm activated but declined to give further information.
Montgomery Place is the easternmost building facing 56th Street, across from the northern edge of Jackson Park. It offers apartment and assisted living and a nursing home facility.
