Smoke Prompts United Plane Bound For Chicago To Land In Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (CBS) -- A United Airlines plane bound for Chicago made an emergency landing in Vermont early Wednesday, after reports of smoke in the cargo hold.
Airport operations specialist Patrick Sharrow says United Airlines Flight 3785, which can carry up to 70 people, landed safely at 5:28 a.m. Chicago time Wednesday at the Vermont airport, after being in the air for about 10 minutes.

No one was reported injured.
The CRJ700 plane can carry up to 70 people, but it was not immediately known how many were on board.
Sharrow said maintenance staff was working on the plane. He says an initial inspection showed no confirmation that there had been any smoke or fire.
