Smith-Rivera, Peak Lead Georgetown Past DePaul, 74-63
WASHINGTON (AP) — D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera and L.J. Peak scored 17 points apiece and Georgetown hit 11 3-pointers to beat DePaul for the second time in 10 days, 74-63 on Saturday.
Peak hit all three of his 3-pointers, which included a 4-point play, and had 11 points in the first half. Smith-Rivera was 9 of 14 from the foul line as the Hoyas (10-6, 3-1 Big East), who won the game in Chicago 70-58, went 20 of 25 from the stripe in the second half.
Billy Garrett Jr. went 12 of 12 from the foul line and scored 16 points for the Blue Demons (6-10, 0-4), who were 20 of 23 from the line but had just three 3s.
DePaul's last surge cut it to 53-50 with 7:43 to play but then the free-throw parade began. The Hoyas hit nine straight, the last seven by Smith-Rivera, and Reggie Cameron's 3 made it 67-54 with 2:36 left.
