Smith Recalled As Carcillo Goes On IR
(CBS) The Blackhawks called up Ben Smith from Rockford Tuesday after officially placing Daniel Carcillo on injured reserve.
The team announced last week that Carcillo had torn an ACL and would miss the rest of season. He underwent surgery Tuesday to repair that ACL.
"Daniel Carcillo underwent successful left knee anterior cruciate ligament surgery today," Blackhawks head team physician Dr. Michael Terry said. "The procedure went very well and he will begin rehabilitation this afternoon. We anticipate a full recovery with him returning to competitive hockey in six months."
Smith has bounced back and forth between Chicago and Rockford this season. He was most recently sent to Rockford four days ago when Marcus Kruger was called up. Smith has one goal in seven games with the Blackhawks this season.
