Smith Pleased With 'Big Game'; Hester 'Sore' After Injury

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Bears coach Lovie Smith said Devin Hester was "sore" after suffering a chest injury during a stellar performance from the electrifying return man and wide receiver.

"He's sore," Smith told WBBM Newsradio's Josh Liss. "We loved his performance. You expect special plays like that." Hester caught a touchdown pass and also returned a kickoff 98 yards for a score.

"It was a big game for us ... the guys started fast and finished strong," said Smith, adding that he was especially pleased with the work of his often maligned offensive line in protecting Jay Cutler.

"I liked the game plan. ... We protected Jay well and got the running game going," he said.

Another injured Bear, Julius Peppers had two sacks and three tackles for loss--despite not practicing all week with a knee injury

'He's just a special player and had a great game," Smith said.

Now, the Bears will practice in Lake Forest before traveling to London later this week to play Tampa Bay. The coach said he was fine with traveling later in the week, while the Bucs leave for England today.

"We feel very comfortable with our schedule," he said.
