Skies Clear As Can Be, But Chill Hovers In The Air
CHICAGO (CBS) -- There is nary a cloud in the sky Friday, but temperatures are hovering in the chilly zone that is expected for this time of year.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says as of 11:20 a.m., it was 46 degrees at Midway International Airport, and 48 at O'Hare. The skies were as clear as can be, with no cloud cover on the radar anywhere in most of the Midwest – as far east as Pittsburgh and as far south as Tennessee.
A Canadian high pressure ridge hovers over the area is keeping temperatures down.
Overnight, the outlying areas experienced a frost. The DeKalb, Aurora, Joliet, Peru and Valparaiso areas saw freezing temperatures overnight, but the city of Chicago and some areas close to the lake evaded it.
The forecast high for Friday is 54 degrees. For Passover observances Friday evening, the sun will set at 7:23 p.m., and temperatures should be around 50 degrees around sunset, Glaros says.
On Saturday, temperatures will rise to a comfortable 64 degrees, as cloud cover blows in and brings a 20 percent chance of rain in the afternoon. But Glaros says the rain chances are isolated and minimal.
On Easter Sunday, the high will hit 63 degrees for a sunny and beautiful day. But next week, look for chilly temperatures that we haven't seen in a while, with highs of 56 Monday, 50 Tuesday, 49 Wednesday, and 47 Thursday.
