Six Minor League Players Suspended by MLB for Performance Enhancers
In a press release on MLB.com, The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball has confirmed that six Minor League players have been suspended as as part of the new expanded drug testing policy. This news comes shortly after MLB officials announced that they would begin testing minor league players for HGH.
The Minor League player who received the longest suspension was Prentice Redman, the LA Dodger prospect will serve a 100-game suspension for testing positive for an amphetamine. His 100-game suspension will begin after his current 50-game suspension, which was announced on June 25, is over. Three Milwaukee Brewer player's from the team's Dominican Summer League team will receive 50-game suspensions. Detroit Tigers pitching prospect Jose Valdez will be suspended 50 games for testing positive for a metabolite of Boldenone. And Oakland A's Minor League pitcher Leudis Benzant was suspended 50 games for testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol. All players except for Redman were on their respective Major League team's Dominican Summer League Teams.
