Sightings Of Missing Aurora Boy Turn Out To Be False
AURORA, Ill. (CBS) -- Police in Aurora say they have to depend on tips now in their search for kindergartner Timmothy Pitzen, whose mother committed suicide back in May.
As WBBM Newsradio's Dave Marsett reports, Timmothy has not been seen since his mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen, pulled him out of kindergarten on May 11, took him on a two-day trip to Brookfield Zoo, Key Lime Cove and Wisconsin Dells, and finally committed suicide in a Rockford motel room.

The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday night that someone told police they saw the boy, who would now be 7, at the Denny's restaurant in North Aurora. But after police tracked down the car in which the boy was seen, it turned out that the boy was not Timmothy, but the son of the car owner, the Tribune reported.
Someone also reported seeing Timmothy in Massachusetts, but that person turned out to be mistaken too, the Tribune reported.
Before her suicide, Fry-Pitzen left a note saying Timmothy was in someone's care, but she didn't say who. It also said he was with people who love and care for him and had a statement that he will never be found.
Timmothy's father, James Pitzen, finds it hard to believe Amy would harm their son. The prospect that the boy is alive is what keeps him going, he said in November. He asked whoever may have Timmothy to drop off the boy to authorities.
Police have been focusing their search on western Illinois, where Timmothy and his mother were last known to be together. Detectives know they were together in the Interstate 88 and 39 corridors in the Dixon-Rock Falls-Sterling area.
Timmothy is about 4 feet 2 inches tall and weighs around 70 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
