Shooting Suspect Holds Police At Bay During HBT
CHICAGO (STMW) - A suspect who shot at man and then barricaded himself inside a Far South Side residence is in custody Saturday morning.
The incident began about 1 a.m. when the suspect shot a 23-year-old man in the 20 block of East 102nd Pl., according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak. The victim was critically wounded in the chest and taken by Chicago Fire Department ambulance to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, she said.
The shooter then barricaded himself inside a residence nearby, prompting police to bring SWAT and HBT officers to the scene at 1:36 a.m.
At 5:55 a.m. officers took the suspect into custody and the HBT incident was ended, Kubiak said.
The suspect has not been charged as of 9:45 a.m. but is in custody, according to the officer.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
