Shooting Suspect Flees, Crashes A Mile Away
CALUMET, Ill. (CBS) - One of four teens shot in the far South Side Roseland neighborhood Tuesday evening fled and crashed the vehicle he was driving more than a mile away, fire officials said.
Two 17-year-old boys and two 15-year-old girls were shot about 5:30 p.m. in the 0-100 block of West 100th Street, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.
The girls and one of the boys were shot once in the leg, Zala said. The other boy was shot in the head.
One of the teen boys drove to South Wentworth Avenue and West 111th Street, where he crashed, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said. Fire officials responded to the crash and took him to a hospital. No one else was injured in the crash.
Three of the teens were hospitalized in critical condition and one in good condition, Curtis said. Two were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, one was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and one to Roseland Community Hospital.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
