Inbound Eisenhower Expressway Reopens After Earlier Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway shut down inbound lanes for more than three hours on Monday.
Illinois State Police said two vehicles headed east on the Eisenhower were shooting at each other around 10:30 a.m. near Kedzie, when one of the vehicles crashed and exited at Sacramento Boulevard.
The other vehicle continued east on the expressway.
No injuries were reported.
All eastbound lanes were closed at Independence Boulevard for more than three hours while police investigated. Shell casings were recovered from the scene.
The lanes reopened by 2 p.m.

State police said there have been 47 expressway shootings in the Chicago area this year, nine of them occurring on the Eisenhower; two of the nine were fatal.
There were 37 expressway shootings last year.
