Shooting On Eisenhower Closes Eastbound Lanes
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot Tuesday while driving eastbound on I-290 at Morgan Street, according to police.
Illinois State Police responded Tuesday at approximately 3 p.m. of reports of a single vehicle crash on I-290 eastbound at Morgan Street. Upon arrival, police found one person shot in the abdomen. CBS 2's Marissa Bailey reports.
A 20-year-old man - gun shot wound victim - and a 24-year-old man were taken to Stroger Hospital, both in critical condition. A child was also taken to Rush University Medical Center in fair condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department. The other victims suffered injuries from the car accident. Additional details on the victims are unknown.
All eastbound lanes on the Eisenhower Expressway were closed for almost two-and-a-half hours at Morgan Street while Illinois State Police conduct an investigation. Two lanes were reopened after 5 p.m. with all lanes open around 5:45 p.m. Traffic is still slow moving.
All I-290 eastbound traffic was being diverted at Racine Avenue. Motorists were told to consider an alternate route.
Authorities said they have recovered shell casings at the scene.
The shooting remains under investigation. There are no further details at this time.
