MANTENO, Ill. (CBS) -- A man has been shot at a warehouse in downstate Manteno and a suspect is on the run.
The Kankakee County Sheriff's Department confirms that a man was shot at warehouse at 1125 W. Sycamore Rd. in Manteno. Police initially said the shooting occurred at a Tyson Foods plant, but Tyson Foods officials said they do not own a facility at that location. A sign on the building read The Tyson Companies.
The building includes offices and a large warehouse. CBS 2's Pamela Jones reports the Mars candy company is renting the facility as a warehouse to store its products.
The victim is an employee at the plant and police believe the shooter is a fellow worker.
The shooting happened at 1:53 p.m., according to police. The victim's condition is not known.
A worker said a fire alarm went off shortly before 2 p.m., alerting employees to an emergency in the building, and advising them to evacuate.
Authorities are looking for one suspect who fled the scene. Undercover officers were seen coming and going throughout the area Wednesday evening as they continued their manhunt.
Dandel Price, the son of a worker at the warehouse, said when he learned about the shooting, "I was like 'Oh my God,' you know? And 'what should I do? Should I come here? Should I wait at home."
Other people waiting to pick up relatives who work there said they were worried about their loved ones, and they just want to know if they are safe.
Workers were being checked before they leave to verify their identity.
In a statement, Mars Chocolate North America representatives said, "We are shocked by today's incident, and our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved. Mars Chocolate North America leases a portion of the warehouse through a longtime partnership. We will be supporting the management company, Four T's Management, along with the police throughout the investigation in any way that we can."
