Shockey Claims 'Hall Of Fame Game Is A Go'
(CBS) Jeremy Shockey and the Carolina Panthers aren't playing in the Hall of Fame Game Aug. 7 -- the Bears and Rams are scheduled to -- but the outspoken tight end is claiming the game is going to happen.
"Obviously the details have to be completed, but this deal is done," Shockey told the web site Busted Coverage. "The Hall of Fame game is a go. It's a win-win for both sides."
Shockey also told the site that he and his teammates were told to report to team facilities Friday for a three-day mini camp and The Charlotte Observer later confirmed that Shockey did indeed talk to the web site.
Meanwhile, ProFootballTalk.com reported that Packers players were told their facilities would open up Friday and that players would be expected to be there Saturday to start preparing for training camp.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers later tweeted that he was not told by the team to show up Saturday, but that may just be damage control because teams are still not allowed to make contact with players because the lockout has not been lifted.
