Sheriff's Police Keeping Tabs On Sex Offenders On Halloween

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Cook County Sheriff's Office is going to try to have sex offenders under its watch when most kids will be out trick-or-treating today.

WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports there are 93 registered sex offenders in unincorporated Cook County and Ford Heights, and Sheriff's police will be making spot checks today, to be sure the sex offenders live where they say they live.

Police will also be reminding them not to be giving out candy to children today, but they shouldn't be home for trick-or-treaters anyway.

The sheriff's police department has told those sex offenders to show up at the sheriff's office in Maywood this afternoon, to re-register and be re-photographed.

Sex offenders who live in Ford Heights have been told to report to the Ford Heights Village Hall between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
