Severe Thunderstorms Travel Through West Suburbs
CHICAGO (CBS)-- Severe thunderstorms moved through the western suburbs Sunday, causing a tornado warning that has since been suspended, according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado warning was in effect for southeastern DeKalb County, southern Kane County, western Kendall County and northeast LaSalle County until 2:15 p.m.
Severe thunderstorms capable of creating a tornado were expected to move through Plano, Sugar Grove, Montgomery, North Aurora, Little Rock, Yorkville and Elburn.
The severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for southeast DeKalb County, northwest Grundy County, Kendall County and LaSalle County.
Thunderstorms could produce hail the size of a penny and winds up to 50 miles per hour.
Strong thunderstorms are moving along a line from Bull Valley in McHenry County to Hampshire in Kane County, according to the National Weather Service. That storm is also expected to affect South Barrington and Fox Lake.
