Severe Thunderstorms Pass Through Chicago Area
Updated 8/4/12 at 5:12 p.m.
CHICAGO (STMW) - Severe thunderstorms passing through the Chicago area are expected to give way to cooler temperatures this evening.
A line of thunderstorms are moving across Lake Michigan into Northwest Indiana with wind gusts of 50 to 75 miles per hour, according to Tim Seeley, a National Weather Service meteorologist.
Lingering showers are expected to remain for the next two hours although a severe thunderstorm watch will remain in effect until 9 p.m. due to a slim chance of continuing thunderstorms, Seeley said.
Temperatures have cooled from a high of 94 degrees at Midway Airport this afternoon to a current temperature of 73 degrees at Northerly Island, Seeley said. Evening temperatures are expected to be between 74 to 77 degrees.
On Sunday, expect less humidity and cooler temperatures with highs expected in the lower 80s.
