Several People Shot In Calumet City
(CBS) -- Several people have been shot in Calumet City, police confirm.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Campbell in the south suburb.
Possibly as many as seven people were shot, CBS 2's Jim Williams reports. Family members tell him relatives had gathered at a home after a funeral when someone drove by and opened fire, hitting people on a porch.
One witness says he heard at least 20 shots. Shell casings were visible on the street.
One family member said some of the wounded drove themselves to the hospital.
The Calumet City police chief told reporters the shooting may have been preceded by an altercation at a liquor store.
Conditions about the shooting victims -- who reportedly were in their 30s and 40s -- were not immediately available.
