Updated 09/01/11 - 2:25 p.m.
LOMBARD, Ill. (CBS) -- Five people were hurt Thursday morning when a car crashed and rolled over in west suburban Lombard and a firefighter was injured during the response to the crash.
Lombard police said crews were called to the crash near North and Ridge avenues around 7:15 a.m.
A female motorist was eastbound on North Avenue when she lost control of the SUV.
"She swerved for some reason, and it just rolled over,'' said Lombard Fire Battalion Chief Ron Rakosnik.
Five people in the SUV were injured, and a firefighter was injured while using a piece of equipment to extricate them.
All six were taken to area hospitals, including Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, with injuries that were not life-threatening, Rakosnik said.
About 45 minutes later, the SUV was towed and the site cleared.
Traffic was closed on North Avenue for about 2 1/2 hours, according to a police spokeswoman.
