Several Injured When CTA Bus Hits Pole
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Twenty-six people were injured Friday afternoon when a CTA bus struck a pole on the South Side.
The no. 95 Cottage Grove CTA bus was traveling north on Cottage Grove Avenue at 4:05 p.m. when it struck a pole at 95th Street, CTA spokesman Brian Steele said.
An EMS Plan 1, which sends at least five ambulances to the scene, was initially called for a CTA bus crash at 95th Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs.
About 4:25 p.m., it was elevated to an EMS Plan 2, which sends an additional five ambulances as well as other fire personnel to the scene.
Twenty-six people were injured and taken to area hospitals, according to Fire Media Affairs. Nineteen people suffered minor injuries and seven people were in serious condition.
The EMS Plan 2 was secured at 4:50 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.
