4 Injured, Roads Shut Down In Streamwood Crash

STREAMWOOD, Ill. (CBS) -- Serious injuries were reported Friday morning, when a car and a sport-utility vehicle collided on Route 59 in Streamwood.
Charges are now pending against an allegedly drunken driver who caused the crash.
CBS 2's Kris Habermehl reports around 2:30 a.m., the vehicles collided at a high rate of speed in the intersection of Route 59 and Schaumburg Road. Debris was left everywhere, and very serious injuries were reported.
One of the cars burst into flames in the accident.
One person was trapped in the burning car and had to be rescued. Police said four people were taken with non-life-threatening injuries to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.
Keegan said two men were inside the SUV that was being driven recklessly and caused the crash -- a 27-year-old Geneva man who was allegedly intoxicated, and a 28-year-old from Bensenville.
The car was carrying an 18-year-old man and woman from Schaumburg, and police believe the teen driving was also intoxicated, but was not at fault in the wreck, according to the deputy chief.
Witnesses had seen the SUV cutting people off and driving recklessly before the crash
At the start of the morning rush, both Route 59 and Schaumburg Road were closed at the scene. Traffic was being rerouted through the parking lot of a nearby strip mall.
