Senators To Address Doubts About Illinois Nuclear Plants
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Problems with nuclear power plant reactors in Japan still have some people asking questions about the safety of nuclear power plants in Illinois.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bernie Tafoya reports, federal and state nuclear experts will be answering those questions this week at a form called by U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.)

The forum will be held Friday at the Dirksen Federal Building, 219 S. Dearborn St.
Durbin says he does not have any reason to believe there is a concern, but given what happened in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami, he thinks it's an issue that should be reviewed every so often.
Some watchdog groups are raising concerns because four of the state's 11 nuclear power reactors are of the same design and age as the Fukushima Daiichi plant that is the subject of the crisis in Japan.
