Northbound I-57 Reopens After Fiery Truck Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) -- The northbound lanes of Interstate 57 were closed on the South Side early Wednesday as crews worked to remove the wreckage of a semi-truck that crashed and burst into flames.
The jack-knifed truck was first reported about 2:25 a.m. near Wentworth Avenue, according to Illinois State Police. All northbound lanes were closed at Wentworth as of 3 a.m., but by 4:40 a.m., traffic was getting by while crews continued the clean-up.
All the northbound lanes of I-57 were reopened as of 8 a.m., police said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, police said.
The driver of the truck was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County, their injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Illinois State Police were investigating.
