Semi Filled With Meat Rolls Over On I 80-94
LAKE STATION, Ind. (CBS) -- A semi-trailer filled with packaged meat rolled over on I-80/94 Tuesday morning. according to Indiana State Police.
The driver was wearing a seat belt, which likely prevented him from suffering serious injury.
At 4:09 a.m. Indiana State Police were called to the semi rollover on I-80/94 westbound at the 13.2 mile marker near Lake Station, a release from ISP said.
A blue 2007 Freightliner pulling a box trailer filled with packaged meat was westbound at the 13.2 mile marker. The driver of the semi, 26-year-old James Copeland of Lebanon, Ind., told police he ran onto the soft shoulder, over-corrected and rolled over onto the outer shoulder, spilling cargo over the north side of the highway.
"Copeland was wearing a seat belt, which probably saved him from possible serious injuries," State Trooper Marcus Gholson said.
Copeland was ticketed for unsafe lane movement, the release said. The interstate was partially closed for cleanup for more than seven hours.
