Semi Crashes Into Dolton Home
DOLTON, Ill. (STMW) - A teen narrowly avoided serious injury when a semi truck plowed into a home Wednesday afternoon in south suburban Dolton.
The boy, 17, was in the back of a house in the 700 block of East Sibley Road when a semi truck plowed through the kitchen at the front of the home about 4 p.m., causing major damage, Dolton Fire Department Chief Jerry McCullough said.
The wreck also ruptured a gas line, but firefighters were unable to shut it off right away because the semi crashed on top of the meter, McCullough said. Nicor crews were later able to shut the gas off from the outside.
The teen was not hurt, but the semi driver and the driver of another vehicle involved were taken to area hospital, McCullough said. Both suffered only minor injuries.
Officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
