Semi Crash Stalls Traffic On I-57
CHICAGO (STMW) - Traffic was stalled on Interstate 57 on Sunday evening after a semi truck ran off the road and crashed in the far south suburbs.
The driver was headed north between the Peotone and Monee exits at around 6:30 p.m. when he began feeling dizzy and lost control of the truck, said Illinois State Police Joliet District Sgt. R. Caves.
The driver indicated that the accident might have been due to a medical condition, Caves said. He was transported to St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Olympia Fields as a precaution.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 57 were closed, but were re-opened as of 7:45 p.m., Caves said.
