White is 77 now, and will be 80 when the next election comes around in 2014.
White compared his tenure as secretary of state to his experience as a paratrooper. He says you don't jump and go halfway. You jump and finish the mission.
White has served as secretary of state since 1998. He easily defeated Republican political novice Robert Enriquez and Libertarian Josh Hanson for reelection last year.
Upon completion of his current term, White will be the longest serving Secretary of State in Illinois history.
