Search Resumes For Suburban Woman Missing In Southern Indiana
WASHINGTON, Ind. (CBS) -- Crews in southern Indiana are going back out this morning to search the flooded White River for a 31-year-old woman from northwest suburban Des Plaines, after she was swept away yesterday morning.
Indiana authorities said Kathryn McGill and her husband Adam were driving south out of Washington, Ind., on Highway 257, when their vehicle was swamped by the overflowing White River.
Adam McGill was rescued by hunters who were nearby, but Kathryn McGill could not be found.
Indiana Conservation Officer Joe Haywood said this will be a second day of searching for her.
"We'll be conducting some of the same searches we did yesterday: bank searches, wading in shallow areas. We'll have boats on the water doing dragging operations," he said.
Haywood said Highway 257 was closed when the McGills were on it.
"There were large signs on both ends of the road advising that the road was closed, and they would've had to have gone around those signs to get to where they were at," he said.
Haywood said Adam McGill was treated at an Evansville hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening.
