Scrap Metal Truck Flips Over On Ramp From Dan Ryan
UPDATED 02/23/12 7:15 a.m.
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A truck hauling scrap metal flipped over early Thursday on a ramp between the Dan Ryan and Stevenson expressways.
In the early morning hours, the semi-trailer truck flipped over at the bottom of the ramp from the outbound Dan Ryan to the outbound Stevenson. The truck was carrying 30,000 pounds of scrap metal, the Sun-Times Media Wire reported.
The roadway was left looking like a scrap yard.
As of 5 a.m., the ramp was closed, along with the right lane of the outbound Stevenson, because of the debris. By 5:45 a.m., the truck had been restored to an upright position.
Some diesel fuel also that spilled.
A man who was driving the truck, and a woman were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, Illinois State Police told the Sun-Times Media Wire. They each suffered minor injuries, but declined to be taken to the hospital, the wire reported.
There were no immediate reports of any serious injuries.
