Scottie Pippen Back with the Bulls as an Ambassador
Scottie Pippen played for the Bulls for 12 seasons and helped raise six championship banners up to the rafters of the Untied Center. Today the Chicago Bulls announced that Pippen will return to the organization as a team ambassador and will become a very visible figure to the fans and the city of Chicago once again.
It was Pippen who reached out to Jerry Reinsdorf in the spring expressing his desire to return to the organization to which he has already given to much. In a statement on the team's website Pippen had this to say about returning to the Bulls, "It's great to be back with the organization. I don't feel like I ever left, I just wasn't as active as I look forward to being in the future. To be part of the Bulls family again means a lot to me. I've always cheered them on no matter how far away I was at the time and wished them the best. Hopefully, I can bring something positive to the organization as it tries to re-develop that winning tradition."
The fact that Pippen reached out to the Bulls and still feels a strong connection to the team and city that started his stellar career goes along way to further put to rest Dwyane Wade's negative comments about organizational loyalty. The return of Pippen to a promnent role with the team couldn't come at a better time as they are gearing up to add a seventh NBA Championship banner to those other six that have Pippen's name on them. While this is undoubtedly a big day for Pippen, in roughly a month he will get an honor surely befitting of his NBA career. Pippen will be inducted into the the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame along with Karl Malone and the 1992 US Olympic "Dream Team."
