Schuster: White Sox Respond To Sub-.500 Prediction
By David Schuster-
GLENDALE, Ariz. (CBS) Since its inception, the publication Baseball Prospectus seems to pick the White Sox to finish at the bottom of the standings each season.
Almost annually, they are way off in their predictions, and the White Sox are hoping the same is true for the 2013 season.
The year, Baseball Prospectus predicted the South Siders will finish below the .500 mark at 77-85.
Below is some reaction from White Sox players on Prospectus' low expectations.
John Danks: "They pick us down every year and more often than not, they are wrong. We get it. We know we aren't the favorites, but as cliche as it sounds, that's why they play the games. No one thought Baltimore and Oakland would be successful last season and they were. We like this group and we'll just go out and prove some people wrong."
Matt Thornton: "Last year we were supposed to finish 4th or 5th too, and we were in contention all the way to the end, but this year we intend to finish the job and win the division."
Chris Sale: "It doesn't bother me at all because I don't know any of them personally. Those guys will say what they want to say, but we know what we have in this clubhouse and I'm thrilled with it."
Gavin Floyd: "Everyone is entitled to their opinion. They never pick us high and we'll just prove them wrong again."
Gordon Beckham: "I don't even know who they are and I don't really care. We're a good team and we'll see what happens. I've seen great teams with talent not do well and just the opposite happen to."
