Schuster: Thibodeau First Bulls Coach To Win C.O.Y. Since Jackson
By David Schuster--
CHICAGO ((WSCR) I got to the Bulls' practice facility long before anybody else this morning except for Tom Thibodeau. Thibodeau is always the first one at the Berto Center, but that's not the only reason he has been named the NBA's Coach Of The Year. But it tells you something about the man. He is incredibly dedicated to the job and is as detailed a coach as you'll ever find.
Thibodeau gets the award in his first year as a head coach and becomes the first Bulls coach to garner the honor since Phil Jackson. The Bulls compiled the league's best record at 62-20 and have home court advantage throughout the remainder of the playoffs.
Before coming to Chicago, Thibodeau was an assistant for the last 21 years and learned from the likes of Jeff Van Gundy and Doc Rivers. He had his choice of jobs last summer but wisely decided on the Bulls.
The award to Thibodeau will not be the last handed out to a member of the Bulls organization this week as Derrick Rose will be named the league's Most Valuable Player, likely on Tuesday.
