Schuster: Sox Looking Good
By David Schuster--
We're less then 2 weeks into the baseball season but the White Sox are looking good early on. With Sunday's 6-1 victory over hapless Tampa Bay, the Sox have jumped out of the gate with a 6-3 record.
Sunday was more of the same offensively as Paul Konerko hit a pair of Home runs while Gordon Beckham hit the other. Konerko has a hit in all 9 games played so far with his batting average .400 while Beckham is at . 333. As a team the Sox are hitting .307 and their 62 runs is right at the top of the majors.
As for the pitching, it's been a bit spotty at times but Phil Humber gave the team a huge lift with his outing on Saturday and Gavin Floyd followed it up with a gem on Sunday. Floyd went 8 innings allowing just 4 hits with 8 strikeouts.
Ozzie Guillen still has some kinks to work out in the bullpen and reiterated on Sunday that he feels he has 4 closers. Eventually he will have to settle on one particular guy but for now he is going with his gut.
And Adam Dunn looks like he will be back in the next day or two. Dunn took batting practice for the first time on Sunday and said he felt like he was reprieved after being pretty much idle since his appendectomy.
